I never told you this before, but my very first blog was a fitness blog. The purpose was to update a small group of local ladies on the dates and times they could come for a free fitness class.
This was several years ago after I’d been sick for many months and was getting back into teaching group fitness.
I went back and took a look at some of those post and found two I thought would fit nicely with the Virtual Hired Hand community.
These will be featured in an inspirational book I’m writing for online business owners.
Your #1 Fan
First things first what are your dreams? Have you been still long enough to dream?
Dreamcatcher #1 – Make a list of your dreams. It doesn’t have to be long, start with 3. Everyday should bring you closer and closer to your dream. Do you remember a few issues ago me talking about how I want my legs to look. That’s a dream that I’m comfortable sharing because its out of the delicate stage. I’m almost where I want to be and I work on it everyday.
Dreamcatcher #2 – Create an environment that is supportive of your dreams. If you dream of getting into a bathing suit this summer, get out of the drive-thru line. This is what I had to do.
Dreamcatcher #3 – Check daily activities to see if they are busters or catchers of your dreams. I used to go to McDonald’s after teaching my group fitness class and pray that no one from the gym saw me. Obviously this was not supportive of my dream to be healthy and get into a single digit dress size.
Dreamcatcher #4 – Do a conversation check. Is it a supporter? This includes self-talk as well. Start telling yourself what you’re going to do and not what you want to do. Lots of people want to sing, but true singers don’t say I want to. Wanting is fine, but doing gets it done.
Dreamcatcher #5 – Ask yourself daily – does what I’m doing or participating in match up with my dreams? Is it a dreambuster or dreamcatcher? Start writing each day what you’re doing to get closer to your dreams.
We’ve all got to become our own #1 fan. Being enthusiastic devotees pursuing our dreams like never before and being protective of them. There’s no time to waste. Dreambusters are always lurking whether we realize and recognize it or not. Pull out your dreamcatchers and make your dreams your reality.
Stop and Smell the Roses
A couple of Sundays ago I did something I hadn’t done in years, in fact I don’t think I’ve ever done it. I had a little picnic in the backyard.
It was such a beautiful and sunny day, I felt like being outside. It was so beautiful and peaceful aside from the red ants (I’m in the country). Hearing the birds just chirping away without a care in the world…WOW…if only we all could be that way.
I was so inspired that day to appreciate even more, the gifts and blessings of God. I was finally taking time to stop and smell the roses.
When was the last time you took a few minutes to stop and smell the roses?

You and I both know the only person we can change is ourselves. If you’re waiting on someone else in order to get started, you’ll be waiting.
It’s good to look back sometimes and see where you were to know how far you’ve come. I don’t recommend you stay with your back turned, but a quick glance is plenty and that’s what this post was all about. As I was reading through it I remembered on my way home this came to my mind. I think I’ve got a thing with acronyms;)

Now it’s your turn to share in the comments below. How do you plan to smell the roses while ensuring your dreams come true?
Wow – ROSES is an exceptional acronym, isn’t it? And a great question you pose at the end. I’m stopping to smell the roses by making sure I accomplish one important task early in the morning. That’s the only way to guarantee I’ll enjoy the rest of my day and night. If I spin my wheels in the morning and don’t get anything done, I’m like the old you eating fast food after a workout — not very productive!! Thanks for this thought-provoking advice š
Thanks so much Amity! I like that plan:) The way I start my day is the way it ends. If I don’t get much done early, the rest is a waste. Same goes for food choices. If I make good choice at the beginning I do well the rest of the day.
Very Nice post Tiffany. You know I am always stopping to smell the roses!
I like your story about going to McDonalds. Isn’t it interesting how we all have ways of undoing the good we do.
Thanks so much Michele! Ah, yes, the roses:) It really is.
