WordPress 4.0 Is On The Way!
Choose the language you’d like to install WordPress in and later, the language can be changed specific to the user working in the dashboard. This is great if your developer speaks English, but the WordPress install is Japanese.
How many times have you been searching for an image, however it’s been so long you can’t remember what you named it? No worries, the media gallery will make it much easier to locate based on the look of your image and not it’s title.
Before WordPress 4.0
After WordPress 4.0
After adding your video link, you’ll be able to actually see it from the visual tab. No more Dotted yellow box holding the place of your video.
The post editor menu stays put! Yes, no more scrolling all the way back up when formatting text, adding images, and hyperlinks. You must see it in action. Watch the video to see what happens!
There are even more updates to come with the latest version of WordPress, however the four listed you’ll appreciate immediately! WordPress 4.0 is expected to arrive August 2014!
Here are my tips on making your update go smoothly:
Start now by backing up your website. I use the following plugins for clients and my own personal websites:
BackUpWordPress OR UpdraftPlus Backup and Restoration for WordPress
Please note, only one backup plugin is needed. Schedule a regular backup weekly if you’re blogging weekly so you’ll always have the most recent version of your website in backup form. Save the backup somewhere other than your host server or computer. I recommend using Dropbox or Carbonite.
Keep your plugins ups to date. Period.
Take a look at your website from the standpoint of your readers. Make any necessary tweaks or modifications now, before the next update for WordPress gets released.
